In 2020, Andrew Becker formed CANVAS Real Estate Collective with his partner Michael Wexler. Andrew has twenty years of diverse real estate knowledge in leasing, tenant representation, property disposition, acquisition, due diligence, valuation and lease restructuring. Andrew has wide reaching experience as real estate advisor to landlords, retailers, restauranteurs, private equity businesses, lenders and restructuring professionals. Andrew has focused his time and energy to establish an expert knowledge in Chicago’s urban retail landscape. The scope of knowledge reaches from high street retail in the downtown area to neighborhood environments throughout the greater city. In addition to Chicago’s urban core, Andrew specializes in leasing retail product in major university environments throughout the country.
Andrew has been involved in more than 250 transactions representing over 8,000,000 square feet. The aggregate value of these transactions exceeds $800 million. A sampling of Landlord clients include; Core Spaces, Sterling Bay, Northpond Partners, CIM, CA Ventures, Madison Capital, Cedar Street, Hubbard Street Partners, Georgetown Companies, LG Development and Tishman. Some of Andrew’s tenant representation relationships include; Foxtrot, bartaco, Barcelona Wine Bar, First Ascent Climbing & Fitness, Grassroots, Kuma’s Corner and Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club amongst others.Prior to forming CANVAS, from 2011-2018, Andrew was Senior Vice President in the Urban Group at Chicago based Mid-America Real Estate Corporation. Prior to Mid-America, he was Vice President at Chicago based Hilco Real Estate from 2006-2011.
Andrew holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and continuing education through the Chicago School of Real Estate and CCIM Institute. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a board member for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance.
