John specializes in tenant representation and urban product leasing, focusing on market analysis, site selection, lease negotiation and business development. Working alongside best-in-class retailers, John has gained invaluable knowledge in facilitating strategic tenant roll-outs throughout Chicagoland and has cultivated countless relationships while doing so. Since entering the business John has helped guide expansion strategies for retailers such as Sweetgreen, Y7 Studio, LaserAway, UFC Gyms and Jamba Juice.
John’s understanding of changing consumer values and the importance of the balance between a unique offline experience and seamless digital presence has allowed him to keep his finger on the pulse of brands that continue to innovate and disrupt the retail landscape. He is proud to work alongside the Principals of CANVAS in bringing several new-to-market brands to Chicago including Everlane, Rains, GOOP and Rye51, amongst others. Whether it’s helping a start-up find their first location or working with a national retailer on multi-unit expansion, John’s unwavering work ethic, extensive retail knowledge and passion for business development has made him a valuable advisor to all the tenants he represents.
Prior to joining CANVAS, John spent four years with Mid-America Real Estate Corporation a part of the Urban Retail Group based in Chicago. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign earning a degree in Economics and Communication.
